Last updated : 12 March 2011 By DSG

Dunfermline extended their lead over promotion-chasing rivals Falkirk with a 2-1 away victory.

The visitors struck first when a Steven McDougall corner found Calum Woods unmarked at the far post, where he was free to fire the Pars into the lead.

Left-back Woods then turned provider as he crossed for Martin Hardie to extend Dunfermline's lead just minutes before half-time.

Falkirk demonstrated attacking intent after the break with the introduction of Tom McManus and Jack Compton.

The game began to turn when Kallum Higginbotham was brought down in the area by Woods. The penalty was converted by Mark Millar and Falkirk began to push for an equaliser.

Mark Stewart had a chance to salvage a point for the Bairns, but couldn't keep his header on target.
