Phil McGuire Signs For Caley Thistle

Centre-half Phil McGuire has finally made the move we all thought inevitable and signed for Caley Thistle on a permanent deal follwing his successful loan spell at the club.

In a cost-cutting measure by previous manager Stephen Kenny, McGuire was farmed out on loan to the highland side on the last day of the summer transfer window after playing just one Pars game this season - a game, incidentally, in which Phil received his marching orders after handing Hamilton a decisive penalty in the opening day of the season.

A Jim Leishman signing in the summer of 2006 - after his release from Doncaster Rovers - the centre-half went onto establish himself as a first-team regular at the Pars, turning in a number of impressive displays throughout last season.

However, after his early season switch to Brewster's side McGuire went on to become a regular fixture in the Caley side, contributing greatly to the side's rise up the SPL.

Undoubtedly an SPL-standard player I doubt many Pars fans will begrudge Phil a move back to the top-flight and will wish the lad all the best for the future.
