Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre has urged his players to show belief when they take on Rangers in Tuesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup clash. The First Division leaders travel to Ibrox to take on the holders and defending Scottish Premier League champions in the third round.

"Every player wants to play in these games," McIntyre told BBC Scotland.

"You've got to go with belief that you can get a result and that's what I'll be trying to instil in the lads."

The Pars warmed up for their clash in Glasgow with a 2-1 win over Cowdenbeath and McIntyre admitted his side had ground out the result having not played at their best.

We'll need to play a lot better than we did against Cowdenbeath

Dunfermline Athletic manager Jim McIntyre

"We'll go there and we'll try and put a game plan on to Rangers that gets us a result," he added.

"We know how difficult it's going to be, but it's a one-off cup competition and we've proved in the past against Scottish Premier League sides that, on our day, we can do well.

"But we'll need to play a lot better than we did against Cowdenbeath.

"It's important they go there, handle the occasion and enjoy it - but, most of all, that they try to get a result."
