boss Jimmy Calderwood has admitted he is set to launch a bid for Pars hero Barry Nicholson in the up-coming transfer window.

Ex-Pars bass Calderwood has publicly declared his interest in adding the Scotland midfielder to his Dons squad in the near future.

Pars chairman John Yorkston has admitted: “We would look at a bid if it came in but we have turned the corner and don’t need to sell players”. Manager Davie Hay has also stated he is reluctant to see Nicholson leave the club saying: “Barry has one and half years left on his contract and is the last player I want to see leave the club”.

With the seemingly cash-strapped Dons only recently having to pull out of signing trialist Herivelto for financial reasons you would have to wonder were any transfer money would come from. A fact not lost on Dons boss Calderwood now conceded that financial factors could halt any bid, saying “ If Dunfermline wanted 500K then their would be no chance”. He also added: “Davie Hay’s first response was a definite no. But I’m still waiting for him to get back to me as he had to talk to the directors.”

With Scotland midfielder Nicholson by far one of the Pars most influential players, lets just hope the Pars directors also answer with a definite NO!
