Dempsey's signing for the Pittodrie side makes the midfielder the third Pars player to sign for the Dons since Calderwood arrived at the club last summer, following the recent capture of Ritchie Byrne and Jamie Langfield on a pre-contract.
The Irish midfielder undoubtedly enjoyed his most consistent run of form under the stewardship of Calderwood at the tail end of last season, whilst both were still at East End Park.
Due to his release taking place outwith the January transfer window Dempsey is unable to play for his new club - unless he plays as an amatuer - until next season due to rules invovlving players' registrations.
