BATTLE FOR THE KINGDOM

The savings accounts and the maps of the Highlands can be put back in the drawer after Jim Moffat's East Fife side edged past Huntly to face the Pars in the Scottish Cup Third Round.

After a pulsating 3-3 draw, the Methil Men overcame the brave Highland League side on penalties - Stevie Nicholas converting the winner in a 4-3 penalty shoot-out.

The Pars will travel to New Bayview for the second time this season - the Pars beating East Fife 5-0 in a pre-season friendly - on Saturday the 8th of January for a chance to book a place in the fourth round of the cup.

With the fixture all-ticketed, any Pars fans wishing to travel to the tie would be advised to purchase a ticket fairly early bearing in mind the fact that New Bayview holds little over two thousand.

With Jim Moffat's side currently sitting third bottom of the Third Division, the Pars will no doubt be hoping for a fairly comfortable progression into the next stage of a competition which brought so much joy last season...then again, this is the Pars we're talking about!
