The Bluetones - Sat 19th Jan

There was a time when Dunfermline was known simply for its world-class football team. Now, thanks to a flourishing music scene, it's now known for two things. There was also a time when the Ballroom up the town was known only for its shit dance music, smell of boak and cheap drink. Now, of course, under new management and with a new name 'Velocity' the town finally has something to be proud of. And what better way to celebrate this great new era than with a bit of classic indie.

It gets a bit much when, like me, you're only 21 and already reminiscing about past glory days of music in your youth but the 90's/early 00's were a fucking belting time for music. Oasis, OCS, James, Roses, Shed Seven, the list goes on and on. Slap bang in the middle of that lot was the Bluetones, another set of indie heroes and I surely can't be the only indie/rock fan in Dunfermline near-creaming myself at the thought of a band of the calibre of these blokes playing the town!

Supported by another tremendous outfit in the shape of local band The Draymin - think Kasabian mixed with New Order with a little bit of the Roses chucked in for good measure - it promises to be a quality night and all for the price of just 13 quid. Might seem a bit steep at this time of the month but, believe me, when the 'tones kick in with Slight Return you'll ken its money well fuckin spent!
